The Government of Canada is supporting the Initiatives Prince George (IPG) Development Corporation in its efforts to develop long-term strategies for economic growth in Prince George, through improved export and investment opportunities in the Asia Pacific Gateway and Northern Corridor.
The Honourable Jay Hill, Chief Government Whip, Secretary of State and Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River, announced a $195,307 federal investment today on behalf of the Honourable Rona Ambrose, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Western Economic Diversification.

” said MP Hill. “Our Government is proud to support Initiatives Prince George Development Corporation in its efforts to develop and increase Prince George’s economic role in international markets.
”
Funding will help Initiatives Prince George (IPG) implement the Global Prince George 2008-2011 project. This three-year project will deliver trade and investment services to area businesses and organizations. Activities will include: a program of seminars; trade missions and investment tours; creation of regionally focused investment information for international audiences; participation in strategic international level trade shows and conferences; and, development of sector and community partnerships. Funding will help strengthen Prince George’s position as an integral part of Western Canada’s Asia Pacific Gateway and Northern Corridor.

Initiatives Prince George (IPG) is a non-profit corporation owned by the City of Prince George. Originally incorporated in 1983, IPG aims to undertake programs and projects designed to grow and diversify the local economy. IPG integrates investment attraction, trade development, tourism promotion, events and film for Prince George. IPG also takes a proactive role in assisting the completion of major business contracts that have strategic value for the Prince George community.
Western Economic Diversification Canada is a department of the Government of Canada that works in partnership with the provinces, industry associations and communities to promote the development and diversification of the western economy as well as to represent the interests of the West in national decision-making.
