Saulteaux First Nation will move forward with completion of Phase Two of the Community Recreation Centre thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
Today, Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and Member of Parliament for Battlefords-Lloydminster, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding for completion of Phase Two of the recreation centre that will create jobs for the region.
“Our Government is proud to support the completion of this fitness and recreation centre for Cochin,
” said Minister Ritz. “This investment will create immediate jobs, while upgrading the recreational infrastructure and strengthening our community for years to come.
”
Funding of $115,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
Phase Two of the Community Recreation Centre will complete the interior and exterior finishing. This includes doors, windows, insulation, cabinets, drywall, vapour barrier, railings, flooring, lumber, paint, electrical, plumbing, and heating.
“Saulteaux First Nation thanks the Government of Canada for funding the interior and exterior finishing work in our Community Recreation Centre,
" said Chief Kenny Moccasin. “Once it's complete, the centre will provide a fitness room, youth centre, elders room and community kitchen for our youth and elders to use year-round to improve their health and wellness--now and into the future.
”
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities. Western Economic Diversification Canada is delivering the program in Western Canada. A total of almost $153 million in RInC funding will be invested across the four western provinces.
