The Rural Municipality of Cartier is moving forward with improvements to its arena thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

“Arenas play a key role in small towns across Canada providing a place for residents to come together as participants and spectators at sports events.  By improving the St. Eustache arena, our Government is helping to ensure that this community continues to have a modern recreational facility today and in the future,” said Candice Hoeppner, Member of Parliament for Portage-Lisgar, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.

This funding is enabling the St. Eustache Community Club to upgrade its artificial ice plant by replacing components necessary to make ice.

Funding of $18,291 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. In total, WD has approved 718 RInC projects that will use all of the funding available in the West. These projects are helping provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
